Troy A. Staggs, 80, went to be with the Lord, with his loving wife by his side, on Saturday, March 10, 2007, at his home in Tularosa.
Troy was born Nov. 9, 1926, in Apache, Okla. to John and Flora Staggs. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 77th Airborne Division.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator, loved animals and the outdoors, had a very unique sense of humor, and, being an ordained minister, touched many lives.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years Juanima "Nema" Staggs of the family home; a son, Garland Ray Staggs and his wife Zelda of Tularosa; two daughters, Judy Kay Hirrill and her husband Allen Lee of Tularosa, and Wyoma Brazel and her partner Whitney Palm of Capitan; three grandchildren, Chris Hirrill of Tularosa, Nolan Armstrong of Capitan, and Jason Staggs and his wife Gretchen of Tularosa; several adopted grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Lola May Mottinger of Bradley, Oklahoma; and three brothers, Raymond and Talmadge Staggs of Lindsey, Oklahoma, and John Howard Staggs, Jr. of Redmon, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a loving husband, father and brother, and will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at Tularosa Community Church with Pastor Doug Markham officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Tularosa.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
