GRISWOLD – Claire A. Abele, 77, formerly of Norwich, passed away Sunday morning at the Backus Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in the Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes (Posa) Bonerbo. Predeceased by her brother Frank Bonerbo. United in marriage to the late Richard J. Abele for 51 years. Claire enjoyed 14 years of employment at Reid & Hughes. A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, survived by her children Thomas (Colleen) Abele, Victoria (Paul) Daniels, Lisa (Vincent) Malerba and step-son Richard Abele Jr. She also leaves 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and sisters-in-law Mary Ann O'Brien, Donna (Thomas) Keane and several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Cemetery, Norwich, CT. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Center for Hospice Care of SE CT, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.
