~Leslie's Story~
Leslie Edwin Rice of Velma peacefully passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 26, 2013, at an Oklahoma City hospital at the age of 85. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4 at Liberty Baptist Church with Bro. Timothy Ball officiating. A private family burial followed at the family farm near Velma.
Leslie was born Nov. 21, 1927, near Walters to Eldridge D. and Lavina (Russ) Rice. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Les owned and operated his own bulldozer service for many years. He loved fishing and spending time with his children. Survivors include his children: Chet Rice and wife Patricia, Velma; Glen Henson, Michigan, and Anita Wilder, Missouri; a brother, Bill Rice, Duncan; two sisters: Dot Williams, Comanche; and Rene Davidson and husband B.R., Mead; his grandchildren: Jessica Rice, Midwest City; Cody Thompson, Mangum; Garrett Rice, Dalton Rice, Wyatt Rice, Cheyenne Rice, Sarah Rice, and Spur Rice, all of Velma; Keevin, Kelsey and Kaitlyn Henson, of Michigan; Greg Reikhof, Missouri; Crystal Wilder, Fort Sill; and Bruce Wilder, Missouri; one great-grandchild, Kolton Thompson; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Wanda Brainerd.
