Alfreda Bishop "Teda" Houchins, of Baytown, TX, formerly of Princeton, died Monday, March 30, 2015 following a long illness. Teda was born April 15, 1947 and grew up in Princeton, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church and a 1965 graduate of Princeton High School. She met Tom Houchins while in high school, as both were lifeguards at the Princeton City Pool. In love through Tom's attendance and graduation from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech) in Blacksburg, VA, Teda and Tom married in 1965 and moved to Baytown, TX in 1967, for Tom's career at Exxon. It is in Baytown for the past 48 years where together they made a home and raised their three sons. Teda is survived by her husband of 49 years, Tom Houchins of Baytown, TX; her mother, Mildred Bishop of Princeton; three sons, David Houchins and wife Leslie of Spring, TX, Mike Houchins and wife Lollie of Baytown, TX and Randy Houchins and wife Amy of Austin, TX; and six grandchildren, Harrison and Hailey Houchins of Spring, TX, Zachary and Keenan Houchins of Baytown, TX, and Erin and Jacqueline Houchins of Austin, TX. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday, April 6, 2015.
