Michael Joe Gowdy, age fifty seven years, passed away in Reno NV. He was the son of Lawence Ralph Gowdy of Ely, NV. And Mother, Marlene Mitchell Gowdy formerly of Las Vegas NV, (mother deceased).

Mike born in California, moved to Jacksonville Florida, and lived there until moving to Las Vegas NV in 1985.

He worked lumber yards, handled heavy equipment, drove trucks and did security work within taverns, and country western establishments.

Mike was a good man, a man who feared nothing, quiet, and would do anything for anyone if need be. A kind smile, piercing blue eyes and always observed all things and people around him. This picture of him does him no justice.

Mike served in the Army National Guard in Jacksonville Fl, before moving to Las Vegas NV, in 1985. I knew Mike very well, we met while I was performing at the Long Branch Saloon, with my band. He was a security guard there, better known as a bouncer. The last time we saw each other was in March 1991, and that was twenty six years ago. He came to my Uncle's funeral service in Las Vegas NV. I never knew if Mike married or not. But when hearing of his mother's and brother's passing, I was told by mutual friends, that Mike had moved to Utah, & left Las Vegas, NV.

In the year 2000 Mike moved to Ely NV.

He was preceded in death, by his mother Marlene Mitchell Gowdy and brother Jeffrey Joe Gowdy Sr.

He left behind his father Lawrence Ralph Gowdy of Ely, NV, niece Christie Dawn Gowdy of LV, NV and nephew Jeffrey Joe Gowdy Jr ( deceased), and an uncle, Gary Phillips, of Las Vegas NV.

A grave side service will be held at Emery City Cemetery in Emery City Utah, where his mother and brother are buried.
