Barbara Joan Hossack, 65, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 with her family by her side. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home. Private family burial will be at Logan Park Cemetery.

Barbara was born on November 22, 1951 to Billie and Ruth (Hauswald) Hossack. She graduated from Central High School. Barbara attended SDSU and she graduated from cosmetology school. She started her career with the Siouxland Community Blood Bank in 1970, which is now LifeServe Blood Center, where she was currently employed.

Barbara was a former member of the Sioux City Boat Club and the Dakota Dunes Country Club. She was an avid runner and golfer, and enjoyed exercising at Four Seasons Health Club. Barbara was a member of Mayflower Congregational Church and formerly taught Sunday school classes.

Above all else she loved spending time with her family and friends. She is well known for hosting Christmas Eve celebrations and continuing family traditions. Barbara will be remembered for her selflessness and loving spirit.

She volunteered at her church's free breakfasts and she was always helping out with the dance squad activities. She loved chaperoning their competitions in San Antonio and Los Angeles and she loved watching her nieces at their dance shows and state competitions.

She enjoyed attending her nieces and nephews school and sport activities.

Barbara will be remembered by her sisters, Julie DeGroot, and twin sister, Susan (Steven) Sembach; three nieces, Dr. Amy (Steven) DeGroot-Hammer, Katie (Kris) Byam, and Emily (Aaron Jones) Sembach-Jones; and four great-nieces and nephews, Abigail and Carter Hammer and Brayden and Connor Byam.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
