Jean Kathleen (Clayton) Barta 89, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 31, 2017.

Jean was born in Two Rivers, Wisconsin on December 15, 1927, and went to Two Rivers High School where she met the love of her life, Dale Barta. After high school, Jean attended Milwaukee Teacher's College and began teaching first grade in Racine. Jean and Dale married on June 23, 1951. They resided and worked in Racine a couple years until they started their family and moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin. Jean left her teaching career to work full-time as a devoted wife and mother, while she did substitute teach now and again. She brought five wonderful children into this world. Not only did Jean put food on the table, clean up after the kids, and provide love and laughter; she found time to be an avid golfer and swimmer. Jean was also a dedicated and loving grandmother and made sure to have plenty of treats around the house for the kids to find during their visits.

Jean is survived by her five children, Peggy Jones, Dale aka "Rusty" (Kate) Barta, Jane Ives, Karen (Joe) Hastreiter, Dave (Penny) Barta; 11 grandchildren, Clayton (Holly), Zach (Sara), and Jesse (Jessica) Jones, Andrew and Allie Ives, Jessica (Steve) Jagusch, Kayla, Maggie, Michael (Kayla) Hastreiter and Erin and Alan Barta; great-grandchildren, Destiny Viste/Hastreiter, Liam & Elise Jagusch, Charlotte Jones, and on her way, Sabriel Jones.

In addition to her parents; Heber & Celia Clayton, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Dale Barta, infant daughter Katherine; sons and daughter in-laws; Craig Jones, Alice Barta, Richard Ives; father and mother-in-law, Joseph & Sylvia Barta Siehr, Clarence Siehr; brother and sister-in-laws, Owen (Betty) Clayton, Ethel (Darwin) Andrews, Miriam (Don) Lintereur, Joseph aka "Bud" (Theresa) Barta, James Barta; special cousin Doris (John) Otis and her godson, Dean Andrews.

Visitation will be held at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., Green Bay, Sunday, October 1, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with (Officiant). Burial will be at St. James Cemetery in Cooperstown.

In Lieu of flowers, please consider donations to a meaningful charity in Jean's name such as; Alzheimer's research, Go to your local schools and ask to pay off children's overdue lunch accounts, give a kid a book, youth swimming lessons or any program geared towards helping or teaching children. That's were Jean's passions laid.
