CLARENCE P. McAFEE
(1878-1955)
Clarence P. McAfee, veteran YMCA secretary who lives at Ironton, the father of two Portsmouth sons, passed away at 1:05 p.m. Friday in Ironton General Hospital. He was 76.
Mr. McAfee had been ill for the last two years.
A native of western Kentucky, he had lived at Ironton since 1922. For 35 years, he was a YMCA secretary, most of that time with the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway "Y" at nearby Russell, Ky.
He was a member of First Baptist Church at Ironton and the Rotary Club.
Among his sons are Dr. J.P. McAfee, 1130 23rd St. and C.S. McAfee, 2121 Scioto Trail.
Other sons and daughters are Mrs. Dorothy Gaethlin of Cincinnati, Mrs. Perna Gustin of Cincinnati, E.A. McAfee of Stamford, Conn., Cmdr. C.B. McAfee of Pensacola, Fla., John McAfee of Youngstown, Mrs. Mary Smith of Akron, William McAfee of East Lansing, Mich., George McAfee of Durham, N.C., Wesley McAfee of Durham, and Jack McAfee of Ashland, Ky.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home at Ironton. Burial will be in Ironton Cemetery.
