A. Lloyd Rush, formerly of Perkasie, PA, died September 28, 2017, at the Lutheran Community at Telford, Telford, PA, where he was a resident. He was 88.

He was the husband of Lucille (Fretz) Rush. The couple had celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary on May 2, 2017.

Born in Perkasie, he was the son of the late Alvin L. and Mary B. (Hockman) Rush.

Lloyd graduated from Sell-Perk High School, Perkasie, in 1947, where he was a four-sport athlete. Upon graduation, he played football for the, then semi-pro, Greenjackets team. He played hardball and softball well into his fifties, and he also managed several teams. Lloyd loved all sports and was also a hunter and a bowler. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles Football, Phillies Baseball and Sixers Basketball Teams.

Lloyd served on the Perkasie Borough Council and was a former member of the Pennridge Jaycees. He was a life member of the Perkasie Fire Company and was active with its Brunna Butzers group.

He was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church of Christ, Perkasie, where he had served as a Deacon. He loved to sing and was a member of the Church Choir for over 30 years. He also sang with the Souderton Generations Choraleers for over 30 years. He recently joined the Lutheran Community at Telford Choir as well.

Lloyd’s employment through the years included the former Reed’s Bakery and Pennridge Beverages. Later, he worked for the Pennridge School District as a bus driver and was in charge of all of the district’s athletic fields for more than 39 years before retiring in 1989.

Lloyd felt the Lord had truly blessed him with his wonderful family. He was a faithful fan at all of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events as well as other events.

Surviving with his wife are three children, Eileen L. Woehr and her husband William C. of West Rockhill Twp., PA, Brian T. Rush and his wife Karen, of Perkasie, and Blair T. Rush and his wife Tamara, of Bedminster Twp., PA; eight grandchildren, Angie Nice and her husband Corey, Eric Woehr, Tanya Wagner and her husband Josh, Brittany Ockershausen and her husband James, Colleen Rush, Derek Rush, Monica Rush and Austin Rush; seven great grandchildren, Dillon, Tyler, and Ian Nice, Colin and Kayla Woehr, and AJ and Kenzie Wagner; two brothers, Robert Rush, of Quakertown, PA, and James Rush, of New Tripoli, PA; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Moyer, of Bethlehem, PA, and Susan Matthews, of Salisbury, MD.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Rush, and four brothers, William H., David R., Kenneth and Larry Rush.

Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Services to be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at St. Andrew’s United Church of Christ, 615 East Walnut Street, Perkasie.

Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Union Cemetery, Perkasie.

Friends may call Monday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, or Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at the Church.
