~Sharon's Story

Sharon Faye Girton, 63, of Harrodsburg, Ky., formerly of Selinsgrove, Pa., passed away on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at the Baptist Health Lexington, Lexington, Ky.
She was born June 29, 1954, in Gallipolis, Ohio, but grew up in New Haven, W.Va., a daughter of the late Paul A. and Mary L. (Fry) Rickard. On March 11, 1989, she married Jeffrey Donald Girton who survives.
Sharon was a retired computer programmer for Corning Inc.
She was a former member of Shamokin Dam and Wesley United Methodist churches, a current member of Lafayette Chapter 222 Order of the Eastern Star, Selinsgrove.
Sharon loved genealogy, won many awards for her quilting at the Mercer County Fair in Kentucky, was an amateur radio operator, call sign N3SGE for 26 years, and enjoyed firearms and going to the gun range for target practice with Jeff whom she would always outshoot.
Sharon adored her family and was Nana to two very special grandchildren, Ian and Isabelle Devensky. She would cheer them on in their soccer and archery activities.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Jennifer (Matthew) Devensky, of Harrodsburg; one son, Jeremy (Andrea) Girton, of Mobile, Ala.; one sister, Debra (David) Hungate, of Vienna, W.Va.; and grandchildren, Ian and Isabelle Devensky.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Paula Louise Rickard.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday with an Eastern Star service at 7:45, at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, Pa., where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. David Y. Norris officiating.
Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sharon's memory may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Alzheimers Association.
