Edward Donald “Don” Gasaway, age 84 of Roopville, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017.
He was born July 11, 1933 in Dekalb County, Georgia to the late John Horace Gasaway and Ethel Collier Gasaway. He proudly served as an MP in the United States Army. He was an electrician with IBEW Local 613 for more than 55 years and was a member of Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Edward Donald Gasaway II; and brother, John Gasaway. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Hicks Gasaway of Roopville; daughters, Deborah Landers (Charles) of Roopville, Jan Stewart (Rick) of Fayetteville, and Sabrina Bishop of Newnan; six grandchildren, Jason Stewart (Alicia), Nicole Griffin (Wesley), Jennifer Lackey (Scott), Tiffany Head (Bill), Harlie Causey, and Donnie Gasaway; and twelve great grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 1:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Doug Bingham and Bobby Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Church Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers will be Jason Stewart, Bill Head, Scott Lackey, Wesley Griffin, Dale Crawford, Scott Bishop and Carl Swearinger. Honorary pallbearers will be Waymon Jones, David Palmer, Chuck Collier, and David Collier.
