HARDWICK, JAMES H. C. James H. C. Hardwick, age 95, of Lillian, AL and Birmingham, Al passed away Thursday January 17, 2013. Born in Birmingham, July 18, 1917, he graduated from West End High School when he was 16. After working in his Father's business a short time, he joined the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. He was involved in the Pacific Theater as a Seabee and achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He was honorably discharged after the war and returned to his wife and son in Birmingham where he worked for his father in the iron and steel industry. He went on to become president and owner of Birmingham Welding and Machine Company which was provider to the foundry and manufacturing industry. The company was involved in numerous projects through the Southeast. Mr. Hardwick was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer traveling to South America, Alaska and Canada for the love of the sport. He enjoyed and embraced life to the fullest and never missed an opportunity to be involved with his friends and business associates. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen W. Hardwick and son, Stephen Lewis Hardwick. He is survived by his sons, Robert Kent Hardwick (Cheryl), James Culbreth Hardwick (Frances) and William David Hardwick (Beth). He is also survived by grandchildren, Allen Hardwick (Kelly), Stephanie Goldblatt (Andy), Laura Davis (Chris), Jeff Hardwick and Rebecca Hardwick along by 6 great grandchildren. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to caregiver, Tracie Richardson along with Ruby Cooper and the staff of Greenbriar at the Altamont.
