Dorothy Christine Holmes, 67, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2001 at her residence.
Dorothy was born in Banquete, Texas on December 24, 1933 to Frank and Hilda DeReese Bartos. Dorothy was a member of Jackson Woods Presbyterian Church.
She was an avid member of the Art Museum of South Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bartos and one son, Michael Holmes.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Kenneth B. Holmes, Jr. or Corpus Christi, Texas and one daughter, Carolyn (Jay) Jenkins of Carrollton, Texas.
Other survivors include one brother, Dolen (Helen) Bartos of Dolores, Colorado and one grandson, Joe Cris Garza of Chicago, Illinois.
Dorothy will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, 2001 at the Seaside Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2001 in the Seaside Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at Seaside Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Brad Holmes, Richard Holmes, Lonnie Mitchell, Mark Mitchell, Darrell Bartos, and Allen Howell. Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny DeReese, Timmy DeReese, Chris Garza and Jay Jenkins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the M D Anderson Cancer Center for the Dorothy Holmes Memorial Fund for Lymphoma Research, P.O. Box 297153, Houston, Texas 77297.
