Saige Rhiane Boswell, 18, Lineville, IA passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017. She was born June 16, 1999 the daughter of Kendall Jon and Carla Kaye (Judd) Boswell.

She died as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Having been a student at North Mercer High School, no classes will be held at the school Friday, October 13th for service attendance.

The highway patrol reports a Lineville teenager was killed in a head-on collision just past 9:30 pm, on Highway 65 three miles north of Princeton with a second teenager injured.

Saige Boswell of Lineville, Iowa died at the scene and 16-year-old Elijah Mandich of Mount Moriah received serious injuries. Elijah was transported by Mercer County Ambulance, then flown by a medical helicopter to the Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Mandich was driving a pickup truck south on Highway 65, while Miss Boswell was operating a sports utility vehicle northbound. Investigators said Mandich moved into the northbound lane while attempting to pass another vehicle. The impact with the truck and SUV occurred in the northbound lane.

Saige was using her seat belt. She is the first traffic fatality of 2017 in Mercer County investigated by the highway patrol.

Saige was preceded in death by her grandmother, Deb Moore.

She is survived by her parents, Kendall and Carla Boswell, of the home; sister, Shania, Bailey, and Boston Boswell; nieces, Allie Kay and Skylar Hope; great grandparents, Chester and Cecile Judd; great grandmother, Maxine Trammell; grandparents, Morris and Jennifer Boswell; aunts, Carrie Levis-Stark and Shannan Boswell; and uncle, Chris Boswell.
