Mr. Carter was born in Nelson County Nov. 11, 1888, a son of the late Thomas H. and Alice Wallace Carter.
He attended Rockfish Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Miss Bloomer M. Carter of Afton and Mrs. Annie B. Goode of Pittsburgh, Pa., two brothers, Thomas W. Carter and Howard E. Carter both of Afton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Carter was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Minnie P. Truslow, and one brother, Henry D. Carter.
Active pallbearers were James Carter, Wilson Carter, Jessie Truslow, Carl Carter, Summers Carter and Gordon Truslow.
The Etter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
