Chester Louis Ambrosini, 96, of Fresno died Oct. 9. He was a dairy farmer . Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 13 at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 p.m. Oct. 13 at the funeral home. Graveside: 10 a.m. Oct. 14 at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Chester L. Ambrosini was born in Fresno, California on June 2, 1921, and passed from this life peacefully, with family at his side on Monday, October 9, 2017. Chester attended St. Alphonsus Grammar School and was a graduate of Edison High School.

Chester was very active in Track and Field and in 1936 and 1937 participated in multiple CYO events. In 1938 Chester placed 2nd in the 1/2 mile at the West Coast Relays in Fresno and placed 3rd in the 880 yd. Relay at the Golden Jubilee Track Meet in Merced. In 1939 Chester had a bumper crop of awards, at the West Coast Relays (880 yd. relay-3rd), at the Golden Jubilee Track Meet (440 yd. relay-2nd and 80 yd. relay-3rd), and at the Merced Track and Field Meet (880 yd. relay-2nd).

Chester was a veteran of WWII. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in July of 1942 and spent from October 1942 to December 1944 in the South Pacific and participated in action against the enemy at Guadalcanal, Tarawa, and Saipan.

After WWII he and his brother Eugene operated the family dairy farm started by their parents and he worked on the ranch through his later years. Chester was a member of the Raisin City Co-op and a member of the Verdi Club. His greatest loves were his family, the dairy and horses. He enjoyed swing and big band music, and could be very mischievous.

He is preceded in death by his his wife, Charlene; mother, Katie Ambrosini; his father John Ambrosini; his brothers, Harry and Eugene; and his sister, Alma.

He is survived by his son John Ambrosini; his nephews Eugene and his wife Janet, Richard and his wife Cindy, Harry and his wife Debbie, and his niece Cathi and her husband Steve; and many grand nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

A Graveside Service will be held, with Military Honors at St. Peter's Cemetery on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.

Remembrances may be made to Hinds Hospice.
