Sir John Throckmorton was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in the first year of her reign at Kenilworth and was Master of the Requests and Justice of Chester. (Source: Arthur Collins. The English Baronetage. London, 1741. 2:359.)

Inscription

Here liethe interred the bodie of Syr John Throkmorton Knyght of Fekenham the Seventhe Sonne of Syr George Throkmorton Knyght of Coughton sometime master of the requests unto Queen Marie of happy memorie who in respect of his faythful Service bestowed upon him the office of Justice of Chester and of her Counsayle in the Marches of Wales in whiche roome hee Continued xxi 11 years and supplied within the same time the place of Mr Vice President the space of 111 yeares. He had to Wife Margerie Puttenham doughter of Robert Puttenham Esquier by whom he had issewe v [5] Sonnes and IIII [4] doughters. He departed this Life the 22 of May Ao. 1580. His Wife survived who Lived and dyed ao. .... his Wydoe and is here also Interred on whose Soules God have Mercy.
