PARDEEVILLE — Marilyn J. Amend, age 71, of Pardeeville, died unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, April 4, 2001. She was born on March 14, 1930, in Pardeeville, the daughter of Charles F. and Lucille (Jerred) Smith. On June 7, 1952, she was united in marriage to George Amend in Rio, Wisconsin. Together they owned and Operated “Steam and Dye Works" in Madison for many years. Marilyn was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Chapter Beta Zeta. She belonged to a bridge club, and enjoyed golfing. Marilyn was an avid Badger Fan. She enjoyed going to and watching football and basketball games, attending the 1994 Rose Bowl. Marilyn was a past member of the curling club and an avid sports fan. She was a loving and giving mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by her children, Stacy (Les) Castleberry of McFarland. James Amend (Tina Kligora) of Madison, and Susan Amend (Scott Bruning) of Cottage Grove; seven grandchildren, Jamie and Dylan Castleberry, Natelie Amend, Travis and Carley Statz, and Tanner and Libby Bruning; brothers and sisters, Rich (Barbara) Smith of Arkansas, Charlotte (John) Hunt of Pardeeville, Eleanor (Al) Miller of Pardeeville, Jeanette (Rad) Slogged of Arizona, and Jim (Kay) Smith of Milwaukee: special and dear friend, Bernadine Schulz of Sun City, Arizona; and nieces, nephews, and other near relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harry; and a sister, Helen. Memorial Services for Marilyn J. Amend will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. at the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Pardeeville. Pastor Dennis Weis will officiate. Friends and relatives may call at the church one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. The SMITH FUNERAL HOME in Pardeeville is serving the family.
