Obituary - Desert Sun, The - (Aug/24/2004) Donald Douglas Allen, 79, of Palm Desert died Aug. 18, 2004, in Rancho Mirage. He was born Jan. 4, 1925, to Floyd A. and Florence Kean Allen in Flint, Mich. He married Sally Carewe on June 27, 1946, in Beverly Hills. As a sales executive in the advertising industry for 20 years, he worked at KNXT Radio in Los Angeles and as a tennis professional, he worked at Shadow Mountain Resort in Palm Desert. He also served in the Army. He was a member of the U.S. Professional Tennis Association, Beverly Hills High School Alumni and Las Palmas Country Club. He is survived by three daughters, Nancy A. Steddom of San Diego, Diane V. Allen-Axelrood of Los Angeles and Mary A. Kelley of Manhattan Beach; his son, Bruce S. Allen of Solana Beach; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally, in 1992. A celebration of his life will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at 12813 Bristol Circle North, Los Angeles. Wiefels & Son Funeral Directors of Palm Springs is in charge of arrangements.
