Funeral service will be today at 2 pm at Reed Memorial Baptist Church for Millie C Burks, 86, 615 Ninth Avenue SW, Atalla, and 709 Midway, Gadsden, who died March 7, 1991. The Rev Jimmy Bailey will officiate. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Chapel is in charge.
Ms Burks was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in Death by her husband, Marvin H Burks; son, M Garland Burks, and grandson, James Buster Burks.
She is survived by her daughter, Bobbie Jean Lee, Attalla; son, W Edward Burks, Gadsden; sisters, Naoma Huffman, Vinemont; Ruby Gardner and Winnie Berry, both of Warner Robbins, Ga; ad brother, A B Jarrett, Warner Robbins; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr L D Vinson, Dr James O Wallace, personal friends and 6th Floor Nursing Staff of Holy Name of Jesus Hospital.
Ms Burks will lie in state at the church from 1-2 today.
