Her work career started young when she worked at her family’s Erie-based meat market. She raised a family of 4 children and worked part-time as a sales associate at JC Penney and as an Avon lady, and taught ceramics classes out of her home. She also raised show dogs with her husband. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace parish from its inception. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and visits to the zoo with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by two sisters, Rita Kemp and Marjorie Kennerknecht and a brother, John Saeger.
She is survived by her husband, Richard J. Abel, three daughters, Susan Hofius (Dale), Judith Abel and Linda Pope all of Erie, a son, Richard Abel of Hudson, OH, sister, Anna Mae Meyers (late husband Howard C.); eleven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Shirley Saeger; and many nieces and nephews.
Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
