She graduated in 1951 from Ursuline Academy. Kay married Robert F. Harrison in 1953 and they had two sons, Charles and Daniel. In addition to being a wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother, and great grandmother, Kay worked for Bankers Life & Casualty Company, American Cyanamid Company, and the State of Illinois, Department of Public Aid-Child Support Division; she retired from there in 1994 as a supervisor. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springfield, Illinois for the last forty years and believed that God was always with her. Her faithful companion was her Siamese cat, Ella, who “talked” to her and brightened each of her days. Kay’s many hobbies during her life included playing the guitar, saxophone and dulcimer, baseball, tennis, singing, yodeling, belly dancing, gardening, country dancing, crocheting, games of all kinds, listening to music, going to craft shops and counting the number of suits in her son’s closet every time she came to visit. She loved God, family, friends and animals and was loved by all. Kay did even small things with great love.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her siblings, Betty Smith, Mary Smith, Frank Dower, James Dower, Irene Lavin, and Peggy Freeman; and by her very special friend, Wayne Davenport.
