Miss Emeline M. Dana, known to her family and friends as "Emma" lived at the Dana homestead on North Eaton, Eaton Twp., Wyoming County, Pennsylvania.

Miss Emma M. Dana, was born at the Dana Homestead in Eaton Twp, Wyoming Co, Pennsylvania was the daughter of Asa Stevens Dana (1794-1874) and his second wife, Hannah Pruner Dana (1804-1883). Emma M. Dana never married and was found in at least two census years living with her sister, Mary Dana Piatt and her husband, Attorney Frank Hammond Piatt.

Emma came from a large extended family. Her father's first wife, Anna known as Nancy Pruner (1795-1838) was a sister to her own mother, Hannah Pruner Dana (1805-1883). Her half siblings were: Judge Edmund Lovell Dana (1817-1889); Stevens Danda (1829-1874); Milton Dana, Esq. (1822-1886); Sarah Ann Dana (1824-1901);William Alexander Dana (1825-1896); Charles Hamilton Dana, M.D. (1827-1901); and William Dana (1840-___).

And her immediate family was also large consisting of siblings: Anderson Dana (1834-1918); Frances Louise "Frank" Dana (1838-1916); Helen Jane Dana Mills (1840-1929) wife of Civil War Veteran with Co H 24th PA Infantry and local Merchant Obediah S. Mills (1837-1917); Caroline M. Dana (1846-1891); Asa Stevens Dana, Jr. (1846-1891); and her youngest sister Mary Dana Piatt (1850-1914) wife of Frank Hammond Piatt, Esq.
