Gerriegale EllenHumes, age 72, of Mattoon passed away at 12:47 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Funeral services for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Hayes. Burial will take place at a later date. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Schilling Funeral Home. Ellen was born on July 8, 1944 in Mattoon the daughter of Wayne and Delphia (Cook) Aleshire. She married William Robert Humes on August 31, 1962. Survivors include her husband, Bill Humes of Mattoon, IL; son, James Wesley Humes of Mattoon, IL; daughter, Marcie Anne Mason of Mattoon, IL; grandchildren, Corey Humes of Belleville, IL, Brittany Humes of Robinson, IL, Ariel Kapper of Mattoon, IL, Brody Mason of Mattoon, IL; great grandchildren, Avery Elizabeth Boyd and Lillian Grace Boyd both of Robinson, IL; brothers, Jim (Annabelle) Aleshire and Paul (Jeri) Aleshire all of Mattoon, IL. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Amberlyn Paige Humes. Ellen was employed at G.E. for 25 years prior to her retirement. She participated in many Class of 62 events throughout the years. Ellen had a very outgoing personality and cherished spending time with her family and many friends. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Memorial donations in her honor are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
