Son of Lonnie Theodore Reed, JR (1921-1997) and Charlotte (Barner) Reed (1922-1998)

Douglas S. Reed was finally able to rest on Thursday, July 18, 2002, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 5, 1952, in Billings to proud parents Lonnie and Charlotte Reed.

Doug graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1970, and then attended Eastern Montana College.

On July 12, 1975, he married his best friend and love of his life, (Name deleted). Together they had two wonderful sons, (Names deleted).

His love of airplanes led him to work for the United State Post Office, picking up air-mail from the airport. Then, he went to work for Northwest Airlines as a grounds crewman. Doug also had a love for cars. He worked at Hines Motor Supply/Bumper to Bumper for 24 years. He owned numerous hot rods throughout his life, and he enjoyed working on his cars, maintaining them, and driving them.

Doug enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives in Arkansas. He especially loved fishing with his Uncle Jim and going to Arkansas Razorback games. During his entire life, he was a devoted New York Yankees fan.

He was a talented athlete in track, baseball, football and wrestling. As he got older, he enjoyed sharing his wisdom and knowledge of art and sports with his sons. In his free time, he played golf, enjoyed baseball games and watched his sons participate in numerous activities. He was a member of the Billings Bonsai Society. Spencer, his dog, was a very important part of his life.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Charlotte Reed. Survivors include his wife, (Name deleted); two sons, (Names deleted); dog Spencer; and brother (Name deleted) of Bend, Ore.

The family wishes to thank EVERYONE at the Hematology and Oncology of the Northern Rockies for all their love and support. Over the years, he was always treated as a friend, not a patient. They would also like to express their gratitude to Hospice for all their support.

Memorials may be made to P.E.A.K.S. #2 (an auxiliary of the Northern Rockies Cancer Center) 1041 N. 29th St. Billings, MT 59101.
