The service will be at 11 a.m. EDT Saturday at Jefferson County High School Auditorium in Monticello, with burial at Springfield Cemetery in Lloyd.
A native of Perry, the Rev. Miller lived in Lloyd except for the time he spent in the Army during World War II. He was well-known for his farming abilities and fresh produce. He was called to preach in 1959 and became a pastor in 1966. He served at several churches before his charge at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Drifton, where he was pastor for 36 years.
He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Capitola and several other organizations, including the Sons and Daughters of Joshua Lodge No. 4, You Hope Pallbearer Lodge No.1 and Bible Expositor Union No. 2 in Jefferson County.
His memory will be forever cherished by his wife; five sons, the Rev. Ernest K. Miller (and wife Peggy) of Tallahassee and John Wesley Miller Jr., Mangle Miller, Adam L. Miller and Fitzgerald K. Miller (and wife Gloria), all of Lloyd; five daughters, Loretta M. Robinson (and husband Willie) of St. Petersburg, Melvina M. Lewis (and husband Spencer) of Lamont, Lutricia M. Hamm (and husband Robert) and Laura M. Littlejohn (and husband Terry), both of Monticello, and Phyllis M. Williams (and husband Renard) of Lloyd; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death Jan. 31, 1989 by a daughter, Jacqueline Denise Miller.
