June 20, 1980 ~ October 21, 2017
Christin E. Barnes, PharmD, of Frederick, CO passed away on Oct. 21, 2017 at the age of 37 surrounded by her family at her home. She fought a courageous battle against colon cancer the past 27 months. She is survived by her husband Brock Barnes and daughter Elia (Frederick, CO), her parents Randy and Cindy Randall (Windsor, CO), grandmother Betty Swan (Modesto, CA), and grandfather Jim Randall (Kona, HI) and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Christin is preceded in death by her daughter Arya Barnes, her grandfather Ray Swan and grandmother Betty Randall.
Christin was born on June 20, 1980 in Modesto, CA. She graduated from Woodcreek High School, Roseville, CA. After graduating from high school Christin pursued a career in pharmacy. She received her undergraduate degree in BioChemistry and Molecular Biology from University of California, Davis. She then received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy. After graduating pharmacy school she worked as a pharmacist at Poudre Valley Hospital where her coworkers became more than mere colleagues, they became friends who were like family. Christin’s coworkers rallied around Christin and her family after the passing of her daughter, Arya. That love and support continued and was ever-present during Christin’s valiant battle with colon cancer.
In 1997 Christin met the love of her life Brock Barnes while he was studying at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA while stationed there serving his country in the United States Air Force. In August 2000, Brock and Christin were married at McClellan AFB in Sacramento, CA. Christin and Brock moved to Aurora, CO in 2009 to pursue their careers and start their family. Their romance was a true love story for the ages. Christin and Brock were partners in crime, partners in love, and partners for life. Christin was the biggest FRIENDS fanatic. To quote Phoebe from friends, when it comes to Brock and Christin, “He’s her lobster!”
Some of the best memories growing up with Christin was our annual family gatherings at Donner Lake, CA. and summer holidays at her parents house in Roseville. Her love of family, smile, quick wit and humor were priceless. She would light up a room the minute she stepped through the door.
A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2017 at Rocky Mountain Christian Church in Niwot. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Christin’s life. Interment will follow at Foothills Gardens of Memory in Longmont.
