Genevieve Brooks Agee, wife of the late Cornelius Hamilton Agee Jr. of Buckingham Courthouse, passed away on her ninety-third birthday. She was survived by two daughters, a son, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two half-brothers, and one half-sister. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Evans Brooks, Sr. of Mechanicsville, in Hanover County; and a mother, the late Daisy Lewis Andrews of Essex County, Virginia.

Genevieve was an active member of Maysville Presbyterian Church at Buckingham Courthouse. In 1994 she was presented an honorary membership in the U.S. Presbyterian Women USA. Genevieve helped her husband in their grocery store in Buckingham Courthouse, while writing as a correspondent and staff reporter for the Farmville Herald for more than 25 years, and special correspondent for the Daily Progress and the Richmond Newspapers. Genevieve was involved in many civic organizations - a charter member of the Woman's Club of Buckingham and a past president, a charter member of Historic Buckingham, an active member of Extension Homemakers Club, and the Buckingham Book Club. Genevieve published a book, "Reflections of Buckingham County".

Funeral services were to have been held Tuesday, Apr. 19, 2005, at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, with interment in Browns Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery at Gravel Hill, Buckingham County. Contributions may be made to Browns Chapel, Maysville Presbyterian Church or Buckingham County Rescue Squad.
