Duey attended Fort Worth Central High school, graduating in June of 1931. He was in the 20th graduation class of Rice Univsity, earning a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering on June 2-3 of 1935. He worked at Spencer Chemical in Texas and later Cosden Oil and Chemical Company in Illinois.
He loved gardening and traveling and was an excellent handyman.
Duey was married 3 times. His first wife was Mary Leona Wills. Their Children were Elsie Eleanor, George Duey Jr., Franklin Wilcox, Marylynne Nancy, and Tim Faraday. He had one son, Alexander Oliver, by his second wife, Rosemarie Vera Lieselotte Bautz. His third wife was Waltraud Elisabet Schroeder with whom he had a single daughter, Margaret Frances.
