Roy R. Owen Sr., 71, of 4801 Peach Tree Road, a retired paint contractor, died Saturday in Dallas. A native of Dallas and a lifelong resident of Dallas County, Owen was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I and a member of the VFW Post No. 156.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy E. Owen, Mesquite; sons, Roy R. Owen Jr., Grady A. Owen, Mesquite; daughters, Mary E. Moore, Irving, Nancy Flo Brown, Garland; sister, Mary O. Owen, Dallas; 17 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
