He was born June 11, 1928 in Antigo, Wisconsin, son of the late Anton and Margaret (Bonnell) Brandl. Jerry attended Manitowoc Lincoln High School, graduating with the class of 1946. He enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1948 until 1954, he served in Finance and as a Medic at Guam Army Base, and also in Albuquerque and Germany. On June 28, 1958, Jerry married the former Margaret Singer at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2002. Jerry was employed with Hamilton Industries as a supervisor until his retirement in 1990. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed working in his flower and vegetable gardens and his gambling bus trips.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law: Geri (Dave) Hastreiter, Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Jessie (Justin) Kline and Jason Hastreiter and his fiancee (Betsy Hart); one sister: Margaret Evenson; one sister-in-law: Bonnie (George) Neumann; and one brother-in-law: Jerome (Delores) Singer. Other relatives and friends also survive. Jerry is preceded in death by three sisters: Germaine (Richard) Bauer, Virginia Brandl and Lorraine Brandl; his brother: James Brandl; a brother-in-law: Marlyn Evenson; and other relatives and friends.
Cremation has occurred at the All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. TODAY: Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Pleier. Jerry will be laid to rest at Calvary Mausoleum at a later date.
