COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Barney Franklin Anderson, 84, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Friday, October 27, 2017, at the funeral home.

Mr. Anderson passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Born on May 14, 1933 in Lexington, he was a son of the late Albert Isaiah Anderson and Clara Mae Gaston Anderson.

Barney served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was an assistant chief firefighter for the City of Columbia and retired after 37 years of service.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Edwina "Eddi" Anderson; sons, Gary Anderson (Vicki) of Columbia, Brian Anderson (Erika) of Columbia, and Phillip Anderson (Jan) of West Columbia; sister, Barbara J. Clyburn of Huntsville, Alabama; five grandchildren, Ginger Humphries (Michael), Lauren Anderson, Jared Anderson, Kenedi Anderson, and Brian F. Anderson; and two great-grandchildren, Grady and Allie Humphries.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harvest Hope Food Bank, P.O. Box 451 Columbia, SC 29202.
