Society Social Events of the week Birthday dinner for Three Saturday evening, July 19, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Carpenter of South Cherry Street entertained at an eight o'clock dinner in honor of their three granddaughters the Misses Eva Ladesa Johnson, Bethe Belle Mertz and Florence Mae Brown, whose birthdays are all in the month of July. A four course dinner was served and the color scheme of Nile green and white was very prettily carried out. Carnations of the two shades were used to decorate the table. A birthday cake, standing fourteen inches high with a candle to represent each year in the ages of the three girls, stood in the center of the table. The three girls were cleverly dressed in evening gowns of Nile green. House games were played during the evening after which a program consisting of readings and musical selections were given At 12 o'clock the birthday cake was cut by the three girls and hot coffee and waters were served. Much merriment was had where the futures fortunes were found in the pieces of cake. The invited guests for the evening were: Miss Ian Gerrals and Messrs Donald Holt and Forrest Cory all of Ames IA; Miss Mae Bowers and H. J. Bowers of Fort Dodge; Aden Arnold, Paul Arnold, Miss Dorothy Outtrim and Mrs. Mae Mertz of this City.
