Charles Edward Martin was born on 20 Aug 1851 in Rowland Castle, Hampshire, England to parents Charles Edward Martin (1825-1870) and Charlotte Elizabeth Betteridge Martin (1827-1865).


On 3 Sep 1874 at Kennington Parish Church, Surrey, England he married Mary Ann Shaddick (1855-1917) and they had 6 children together:

Mary Ann Martin (1875-1858)

Lilly Martin (1877-1903)

Charles Henry Martin (1878-1950)

Rose Martin (1881-1949)

William Richard Martin (25 Nov 1883 - 18 Aug 1884)


He was the Head Porter at South Western Station and died when he was accidentally killed by an express train on 8 May 1883.
