Peter J. Dantro, 74, of West York, died at 12:10 p.m. Monday at York Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth A. (Clark) Dantro.

The service will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, 1569 W. Market St., York. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Viewings will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Heffner Funeral Home of York Inc., 1701 W. Market St., York, and 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Mr. Dantro was born in Lancaster. He was the son of the late Domenick and Anna (Piccioni) Dantro.

He owned and operated the P.J. Dantro and Co. Inc., selling food machines, equipment and supplies for 47 years. He was an authorized distributor for Globe Food Equipment Co. and secretary/treasurer of the York County Meat Dealers Association.

He was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, the West York Exchange Club, the board of directors of the ESCAPE Center in Harrisburg, the West York Business Association, and the Viking Athletic Association. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant with the 452nd Amphibian Unit in the Pacific Theatre.

Mr. Dantro also is survived by a son, Peter J. Dantro Jr. of York; two daughters, Kathy R. Hensel and Linda M. O'Dell, both of York; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank Dantro and Joseph Dantro, both of Lancaster, and Adolphe Dantro of Lewisberry; and two sisters, Margaret Klos of Lancaster, and Ann Boyd of Millersville.

Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Elmer W.V. Scofield.
