Opichka, Raymond

Raymond Opichka, age 89, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Ray was born on August 6, 1928 in Manitowoc. He was the son of the late Joseph and Emma Rous Opichka. Ray served with the United States Army from 1951 until the time of his honorable discharge in 1953. He then returned to Manitowoc and became employed with several construction companies, Bahr, Strew, and Radant and then became employed with Mirro Aluminum from where he retired in 1990. Ray was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Manitowoc Senior Center.

He is survived by two sons: Alan Opichka and his significant other, Deborah Arney, TN; Arnold Opichka, Manitowoc; one daughter: Sharon Hebert , Manitowoc; five grandchildren: Kevin Opichka, Richard Hebert III, Amber Menges, Amanda (Bob) Seal, Brian Opichka; nine great grandchildren,

two sisters: Elsie Zimmerman, Clover; Evelyn Post, Cleveland; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Emma Opichka; one son: Kenneth Opichka; three brothers: Emil, Louis, and Darvin Opichka; four sisters: Marcella Rauens, Agnes Neuser, Lillian Bushman, and Clara Rauens; one son-in-law: Richard Hebert Jr.; special friend Emily Gates and the mother of his children, Lorraine Opichka.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc with military graveside rites accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Otto Oas Post #659. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. A luncheon will be held for relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 N. Water Street, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home following the services at Evergreen Cemetery.
