Ethel Gertrude Long
Ethel Gertrude Long, 86, of 1000 N. Liberty, Boise, died on Monday, May 21, 1984, in a Boise hospital of natural causes. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 25, at Cloverdale Memorial Park. Rev. John Embery of the Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cloverdale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Long was born on Aug. 29, 1897, at Nordin, Okla., a daughter of John Daniel and Ava Belle Smotherman Morrow. She was reared and educated in Oklahoma, and then moved to the Boise-Meridian area of Idaho where she had since resided. She married Dennis E. Long on March 9, 1946, at Boise. Mr. Long died in February of 1973.
She had worked as a cook for the Mechanafe, the Blue & White, the Shovelin and for Grant's Truck Stop until her retirement in 1961.
Survivors include a daughter, Irene Cockrum, a brother, William Woodrow Morrow, a sister, Viva Finley, all of Boise; a grandson, Merle Nichols, three granddaughters, Lauretta Rexroad, Peggy Cherry and Carol Hyatt, all of Boise; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two husbands, a son, her parents, a brother and a sister.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Elks Rehabilitation Hospital, 204 Fort Place, Boise 83702, in memory of Ethel G. Long; or contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Friends may call today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. until noon at the Cloverdale Funeral home Chapel.
