Leon Canapary was born in Brooklyn New York approximately 1932. Leon is a graduate of Brooklyn Prep High School and New York University. Leon received his medical degree at SUNY Downstate Medical Center on a full Regent Scholarship. In the Canapary tradition he had very good genes and was very intelligent. Leon was a Flight Surgeon in the United States Air Force stationed in Hahn Air Force Base in Germany for three years. Leon then became a psychiatrist. In 2001 Leon Canapary was awarded the Nancy CA Roeske MD certificate of Excellence in Medical School Education for his career long dedication to tutoring medical students.
Leon was warm and witty and when he entered a room he filled it with positive energy.
