Richard L. Sobel, age 67, of 2903 Viebahn St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, October 20, 1994, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 24, 1994, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Roman Zbieranski O.F.M. with entombment to follow in the Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.

He was born September 9, 1927, in Manitowoc, son of the late Joseph and Johanna Markowski Sobel. Mr. Sobel was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1945-1946. He married the former Charlotte Bonin June4 25, 1949, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He was employed with the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company for 25 years during which time he was a member of Boilermakers Local 443. He later was employed by the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 206 of Fond du Lac for 20 years and retired in 1988. Mr. Sobel was a Junior Rifle Instructor for the Manitowoc Recreation Department for 22 years and was a life member of the NRA. He also was a member of St. Mary's Mens Club.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte J. Sobel, Manitowoc; four daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Dave Kocourek, Whitelaw, Sue and Dan Krueger, Francis Creek, Sally and Dave Radke, Brookfield, Sherri and Jim Radke, Waukesha; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Terry and Kathy Sobel, Shoto, Time Sobel, Manitowoc, Tom Sobel, Washington, D.C.; 10 grandchildren, Christie, John, Carrie and Keith Kocourek, Theresa and Dan Krueger, Tarah Radke, Bonnie, Brenda and Brian Sobel; one brother, Marvin Sobel, Manitowoc.. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Rehrauer, and a brother, Joe Sobel.

Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

He loved hunting and spending time with his children and grandchildren and will be sadly missed.
