(1927 - 2017)

Janet Marie McKay went to her eternal peace on Friday, August 4, 2017.

Born on Feb. 2, 1927 in Kiel, Janet was educated and spent her childhood there. On April 22, 1950, Janet married Sherman Aaron McKay of Manitowoc at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. She worked and made her home in Manitowoc for her entire adult life. Sherman predeceased her in 1998.
Janet graduated from Kiel High School in 1945 and Holy Family School of Nursing in 1949. In retirement, Janet continued to use her nursing experience as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society. A chance second career in the book department of the St. Vincent de Paul Store brought Janet enormous enjoyment.

Survivors include two sisters and brothers-in-law: Kathryn (Donald) Wagner of New Holstein and Frances (Rocco) Voci of Canadian Lakes, MI. In addition, Janet is survived by 19 nieces and nephews to whom she was devoted. Michael (Pam) Klaeser, David (Lisa Futch) Klaeser, Patrick (Dawn) Klaeser, Dennis (Kathleen) Klaeser, Mary (John) Clark, Jane Klaeser, Theresa (Bruce) Gaedke, Barbara (Thomas) Immel, Steven (Julie) Voci, Richard (Julie Keith) Voci, Christopher (Jae-Jae Spoon) Voci, Sherman (Carole) Shand, Charleen Madill, Mary Jane (George) Joyal, Arthur (Jacqueline) Shand, James (Sue) Nies, John (Mary Ellen) Nies, Trina (Chris) O'Reilly, Niki Young. In addition, there are many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Janet was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Elisabeth (Rock) Klaeser, brother, Richard, and sister-in-law, Bernice Klaeser, and an infant brother and sister, also, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruth and Sherman McKay, brothers-in-law, Jack and Arthur McKay, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Connie and Brainard Nies, Lucille and Sydney Shand.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand (1416 Grand Ave), Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Doug LeCaptain with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Memorials may be made in Janet's name to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Schools located at 601 North 8th Street, Manitowoc, WI. 54220.
