Lester E. Gentzler, age 96, of Venice, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. He was born March 15, 1921 to the late Gilbert and Ethel (Senft) Gentzler, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was a proud veteran, having served his country in the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of the DAV, VFW, Loyal order of Moose and a devout member of Lakeside Lutheran Church, in Venice since 1959.
He is preceded in death by his son, Lester E. Gentzler, Jr.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Ruth; daughter, Phyllis Drehouse, of Jefferson, GA.; granddaughters, Tamara Davison, of Bradenton, FL., Barbara Sposato, of Jacksonville, FL.; grandson, Edward Darling III, of Fall River, MA.; great granddaughter, Carrington Geartz, of Jacksonville, FL.; great grandsons, Brandon Davidson and Treyton Davison, of Bradenton, FL.; and many close friends he considered family.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10 O'clock in the morning at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Legacy Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jack Miller officiating, at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 170 Honore Avenue, Sarasota, FL. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family suggest donations made in his name to the DAV (www.dav.org) or, Lakeside Lutheran Church, of Venice.
