BOB BONIN
(1935 - 2017)

Robert "The Bishop" Bonin, age 82, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday evening, August 26, 2017 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.

Bob was born on February 15, 1935 in Manitowoc to the late George and Alice Strzyewski Bonin. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1952. Bob enlisted with the United States Air Force and served his country from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1962. He had been employed at National Tinsel Factory, Dow Canvas, and retired from Weyerhaeuser Paper Company in June of 1997. Bob was an avid bowler and also played dart ball for St. Mary's Men's club of which he was a member. He enjoyed putting together sports pools and was exceptionally lucky with his scratch-off lottery tickets. Bob was a detail oriented person and enjoyed watching sports and tracking team statistics, especially for the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and local high school teams.

Bob is survived by a devoted brother and sister-in-law, John (Miriam) Bonin, Manitowoc; two sisters, Mary Engleman, Manitowoc; and Jean Slager, Hales Corners; nieces and nephews, Dean (Donna) Bennett, Chris (Cameo) Bennett, Cher (Dale) Voigt, Chad Bonin and special friend Nicole Shephard, Craig (Shannon) Bonin, and Elise (Rick) Gilchrist; grand nephews and grand nieces, Jordan, Nicole, Allie, Braden, Ella, Anden, Kelsey, Drew and Claire; brother-in-law, Tom Engleman; also other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice Bonin; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and David Bennett.

A Life Celebration Social for relatives and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Entombment has taken place at Calvary Mausoleum with Deacon Alan Boeldt officiating and military rites accorded by VFW Otto Oas Post 659.
