US Congressman. Elected to represent Iowa's 4th District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1871 to 1873. He also served as a Member of the Iowa State House of Representatives for the 4th District in 1866, and 1890, Member of the Iowa State Senate for the 4th District in 1868, and as the Lieutenant Governor of Iowa from 1870 to 1871. Walden also served in the Union Army during the Civil War, and was an accomplished newspaper editor.
