Joshua Stafford, 50, Passed Away Suddenly Early Tuesday Morning

Resolution
Whereas, the Almighty has called from our midst our beloved Brother and Friend Joshua Stafford, and

Whereas, we feel keenly his loss to the Order of Independent Odd Fellows and to the community at large,

Therefore, be it resolved that the charter in the lodge room be draped for a period of thirty days and that the sympathy of the Order be extended to the surviving relatives and a copy of this resolution be sent under the seal of the Lodge to his widow and childrend and a copy be published in the local newspaper.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the LDS Church for Joshua Stafford who passed away suddenly December 2 at his home. Jackson Lodge No. 8 of the I.O.O.F. will conduct the funeral rites. Bishop T. R. Richardson will give the opening prayer. Merlin Hayes, Noble Grand, will read the obituary, and W. C. DeLoney will deliver the eulogy. The closing prayer will be offered by James M. Robertson. Services at the Jackson cemetery will be directed by Mr. Hayes, N.G., Neal Nelson, V. G.; and Mr. DeLoney, chaplain.

Joshua Stafford was born at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, April 19, 1892. He attended the commons schools at that place until he met with the accident which disabled his right hand.

After recovering from the effects of his injury, he decided to cast his forturnes in the West and came to Jackson Hole in the spring of 1914 and took up a homestead on Horse Creek. In 1923 he relinquished the homestead and took up any and all kinds of work offered him. and in June of that year he was married to Edna Blair of Jackson.

Of this union, two children were born, Wendell James, aged 17 years, and Bessie LaVerne, aged 15 years.

For the past several years Mr. Stafford was engaged in the plumbing business, and by his faithful effort and fair dealing had built a large and lucrative business.

He died suddenly in the early morning hours at his home on the second day of December, 1941, being at the time of his death in his fiftieth year.

Survivors are one sister and three brothers living in the East, his wife, Edna; son, Wendell; and daughter, Bessie.
