NORTH CHELMSFORD -- Edward J. Withycombe, Jr., 65, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 2, 2017.
He was born in Cambridge, MA on November 13, 1951 and was a son of Edward J. Withycombe, Sr. of Tewksbury and the late Barbara B. (Donnelly) Withycombe.
Edward was raised in Chelmsford and was a graduate of Chelmsford High School, Class of 1969. He attended UMASS Amherst, McGill University in Montreal, and Mass General School of Nursing. Edward was a veteran of the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany and was fortunate to spend extensive time traveling throughout Europe. He was employed as an Engineering Technician by Wang Laboratories from 1984 until 1991 when he retired due to his illness. Known as "Eddie" to his family and friends he greatly enjoyed family gatherings especially around the holidays. He was a voracious reader with a special interest in history and politics. He had a good heart with a gentle soul and was loved by everyone.
In addition to his father, Edward is survived by his brothers Craig T. Withycombe of Chelmsford and Keith S. Withycombe of North Chelmsford, his step-mother Kathleen M. Withycombe of Tewksbury, sister-in-law Judi Withycombe of Chelmsford and step-siblings; Wendy Ennis of Townsend, Karen Gorzkowski of Maryland, and Scott Wick of Arizona. Edward also leaves his niece Danielle and his nephew Jack whom he adored.
It being his wish, funeral services were held privately with interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
