George E. Abram of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends at his home on Friday, November 3, 2017.
George (Abie) was born in Glen Carbon on July 26, 1927 to parents Sarah (Williams) Abram and Joseph Abram both preceded him in death.
He lived life to the fullest, provided for his family, always A TREND SETTER, and everyone that knew him, would certainly say he did it his way! George was a policeman for the village of Glen Carbon back when only one police officer was needed; he was a member of the Glen Carbon Fire Department and was Fire Chief for 18 years, an honorary member of American Legion Post 199 and a retired pipefitter from the steel mill.
George married the love of his life Norma Lee Kuhn from Edwardsville, IL on July 9, 1947. She resides in their home in Glen Carbon, IL.
He was an awesome father to six children, 3 boys preceded him in death, Daniel Abram, George Abram and David Abram. His surviving children Mark Abram and spouse Shannon Abram, who was a loving nurse to George, of Glen Carbon, Ruth Abernathy and spouse Bob Abernathy of Troy and Kim Morrison and spouse Alex Morrison of Parker, Colorado. He has 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon.
In celebration of George's life, services will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with at the funeral home with Pastor Penny Barber and Pastor Chris Ritter officiating.
Burial will follow at Glen Carbon City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Glen Carbon Fire Department.
