A funeral Mass for Mary L. Abel, 80, formerly of Geneva, will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva, with the Rev. Bruce Ludeke officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, St. Charles. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Yurs-Wittenberg Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St., (Route 38), Geneva. Born Oct. 29, 1927, in Aurora, to Hans Peter [sic] and Karen Alice [sic] Hansen, she died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at Rosewood Care Center in St. Charles. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 75, both in Geneva, and the National Board of Realtors. Mrs. Abel is survived by her children, Patricia Clinton of Iowa City, Iowa, William J. Abel, III of Engleside, Randall of Aurora, and Sandra (Lee) of Maple Park; grandchildren, Shawn Harling, Erica Clinton, Jennifer (Joe) Clinton Pavlich, and Seth Clinton; great-grandson, Noah Pavelich; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents; brother, Paul Hansen; and sisters, Gertrude Carlson and Edith Wiemer. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 143 S.
