York, Ethel R. (Silk) Murphy 87, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at her home. She was the wife of Harold Murphy whom she married 67 years ago on November 26, 1949.

Mrs. Murphy was born September 5, 1930 in Dallastown and was the daughter of the late John and Hilda (Stahl) Silk.

She devoted her life to her husband and enjoyed being homemaker. She was a member of Zion Bible Church in York.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by her sisters, Henretta Watts and Violet Knopp, both of York; and her brothers, Rossco Silk of Hollywood, FL and Donald Silk of York.

Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her sisters, Gladys Grove, Elizabeth Heisey, Emma Arnold, Margaret Frey and Katherine Fields; and her brothers, John Silk and Wilbert Silk

Her funeral service will begin at 12 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2017 at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery in York. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Jeff Kauffman.
