Bob was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1926 three years before the great depression of 1929.Bob attended the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, currently know as New York University Tandon School of Engineering, where he received his PhD in Chemical Engineering.
For fun he enjoyed competitive bridge, avid scrabble player and successful crossword puzzle solver. He enjoyed a game of chess and could win in any checker game. One of secret joys in life was to invent new words. He would try a new word on a friend at a party and then see how long it took for the term to become main stream.
