My sister and I went to aunt Opha's funeral Friday, 11.10.2017. After her service her daughters, our first cousins, told us how aunt Opha had loved this time of year with all the flocks of wild geese flying south for the Winter. The said she'd told them many times over the years that she wished she could be a wild goose and fly away with them. After her death each of them commented at different times that, "Mommy is flying high now" or "Fly high mommy, Fly high!" Such a wonderful thought for them to carry with them and to share with us.

While we were all gathered at the graveside a huge flock of geese flew directly over where aunt Opha was laid to rest. We all looked at each other with huge smiles on our faces... my first thought, which I shared with my sister and our cousins was that the wild geese were doing a 'fly over' for aunt Opha.

" Fly High, Aunt Opha, Fly High!"

You can shed tears that I am gone.
Or you can smile because I lived.
You can close your eyes
and pray that I will come back
Or you can open your eyes
and see all that I left.
Your heart can be empty
because you can't see me
Or you can be full
of the love we shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow
and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow
because of yesterday.
You can remember me
and only that I am gone
Or you can cherish my memory
and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what I'd want:
smile,
open your eyes,
love and go on.

and a time for every purpose under Heaven:
a time to be born, a time to die,
a time to plant, a time to uproot,
a time to weep, a time to laugh,
a time to grieve, a time to dance"
